The Dean´s Message

In the name of the God Who has been man’s first teacher,Worship and Excellence belong to the messengers of God; those who have been the teachers and preachers of bodily and mental health; those who elevate kindness, and revealed to us the heavenly verses, so that they could make us heavenly through keeping and promoting physical and mental health, and through research and health care.

Worship belongs to the 12 heavenly flowers from the garden of Mohammad (PBUH), those who appeared as the practical paradigms of kind saying, kind deed, and kind mind; those who appeared on the Earth to guarantee the making of the earth, air clearance, water clarity, and correct human recognition.

Gratitude to scholars in the medical and health field, like Zachariah Razi, Ahvazi, Avicenna, and Jorjani who depicted the medical and health field history in the early 2^nd Millennia and late 1^st Millennia AD; those who studied the human knowledge in medicine and health, and added to human knowledge without any side-taking. Such scholars prepared the most complete encyclopedias of their time including Al- Havi, Qanoon, kamel- al- Sanea, and Zakhire Kharazm Shahi. We hope to be able to do so.

We all have to teach these things to our succeeding generations that they have to respect the medical and health achievements from other nations; we have to feel responsible for saving the achievements of our own nation, so we may be able to save our own civilization, study health related knowledge from the past. This way, we may be able to fulfill our humane, Islamic, and academic mission, and be trustworthy people.

And now, in the era when human knowledge is blooming, especially in experimental fields, and as we are watching great scientific advancements along with discovering other earthly secrets, and moreover, as we look at the scientific improvement in science and recognition and generation of knowledge, both in small and global scales, we have learned that such improvements and advancements take place not by secrecy, or monopoly, but through the exchange of such knowledge. It is necessary to help out in this growing trend towards better achievements, and add to it as much as we can. We should not be consumers only.

Here is the School of Health, the place where experts, engineers, and specialists in health and health promotion are generated. It is the place where younger people enter out of high schools, and exit to be the health promotion soldiers in as university professors, factory engineers, parliament members, higher health management posts, ministries, and even more than that: the future scientists and scholars of the whole world.

Here is the place where the invaluable professors serve and feed the students, like what their predecessors such as Zachariah Razi, Avicenna, Ahvazi, and Jorjani had done to human beings of their own time. So, here is a sacred place. Here is the meeting place of all creative minds.

The Faculty of Health History :

In 1972, a training center was founded under the name of the higher institute for hospital science, and later in 1990 was renamed as The Faculty of Health. During all these years, the faculty officials have taken a long step to upgrade the faculty trainings. At the moment the faculty consists of two individual buildings. The office for the dean of the faculty, the computer site, the library, the laboratory of vocational and environmental health, and the office for administrative affairs are located in building 1. The faculty members’ room, classrooms, Shahid Rahimi auditorium and amphitheater are located in building 2; and the laboratories of environmental and general health are located in the basement. The most significant physical modifications in the faculty happened in summer, 2006 by equipping Shahid Khorakian auditorium, setting up and furnishing two computer sites, setting up and furnishing amphitheater of the faculty, major modifications in the basement of building 2 and moving the laboratories of environmental and general health to the basement. Currently The Faculty of Health consists of four training groups, including: vocational Health, General Health, Environmental Health and Family Health. The mentioned groups enroll the students in different levels of associate diploma, bachelor, master, and also for MPH course (infectious diseases, social medicine and management). Epidemiology and Vital Facts Group has also been approved and is going to be established very soon.

Earlier The Faculty of Health was located in no 35, Arak St, Ostad Nejatollahi St, Tehran; but the new address is: The Faculty of Health( Ex-Faculty of Medicine), University of Sahid Beheshti, Daneshjoo Boulevard, Tabnak St, Shahid Chamran highway, Tehran.
