The ceremony for expressing gratitude to the SBMU Ex-Chancellor, Professor Abolghasemi, and introducing the new SBMU Chancellor, Professor Pevandi was held with the presence of Parliament members, high-ranking authorities in health and administration, and the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education.

Professor Sayed Hassan Hashemi, the Minister of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education reiterated that having an independent, advanced, and civilized country requires showing importance to the universities, and said: “… a good university will be capable of making a good nation, and vice versa.” He added: “Therefore, the university is as important as the country, and the products and achievements of a university will definitely help a country. I do hope that our universities train individuals who can serve our country more than ever.”

The Minister further said that Professor Pevandi is like the child of the SBMU University, and is well-respected by the medical society. The Minister added: “I hope that Professor Pevandi, who is just in all his affairs, would be able to provide equal opportunities for all university personnel, especially for the SBMU academic staff, and keep an outstanding record at the end of his long way at the SBMU.”

As the ceremony continued, Professor Abolghasemi expressed his gratitude to all those who helped him during his office, and said: “Our goal had been the SBMU development and independence in the field of education, and in the field of research, we had targeted healthy matches among all medical universities at the national level.”

Later, Professor Pevandi, expressed his gratitude to the Minister for his trust to appointing him as the SBMU Chancellor, and hoped for the collaboration of all the academic staff and personnel in achieving the SBMU defined goals.

The new SBMU Chancellor further added: “We will attempt to remove all the deficits and deficiencies, and by depending on the integration, social wisdom, cooperation, and friendship we will try to provide an environment to help us achieve our goals, and reach to the place where the good name of the SBMU deserves.”
