A ceremony to acknowledge organizers of “Oral Health” and “Social Dentistry” courses held in collaboration between University of Helsinki and SBMU

A ceremony was held to acknowledge the organizers of Community Oral Health courses which were the collaborative effort of University of Helsinki and SBMU.

Prof. Heikki Mortomaa, Chief of Oral Health Department of the University of Helsinki, Prof. Mohsen Asadi Lari, Director of International Affairs of Ministry of Health, some university officials, faculty members and PhD students of oral health and social dentistry participated in this ceremony. It is notable that a video clip was provided by Prof. Fariborz Bayat with the help of university officials and graduates to show the aims of the course, how it progressed and the results which was shown throughout the program. Afterwards, Prof. Ali Haeri, the Head of the SBMU International Branch, delivered a speech on the aims of the course.

Also, Prof. Mortomaa gave a lecture on the importance of oral health, how the course progressed and the obtained results. In the end, Prof. Mohammad Hossein Khoshnevisan, Head of the Community Oral Health Department, spoke about the current status of oral health and future programs in this regard. The university officials ended the program with acknowledging the organizers.

The common courses of Community Oral Health were held in collaboration between oral health office of the Ministry of Health, SBMU School of Dentistry, University of Helsinki and the WHO fellow workers in order to train specialized staff in the field of Community Oral Health. Graduates in this major, having learned course materials and research topics throughout this educational program, are now able to take part in policy making, planning and implementing programs based on community intervention which will ultimately lead to promotion of Community Oral Health.
