Active presence of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences at the first international health tourism event Tehran360
Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences Company held the first international health tourism event of Tehran Municipality on Wednesday, 11 February 1404, with the presence of prominent domestic and foreign guests from regional countries.
More than 130 foreign guests from 40 countries, including hospital heads, ministerial representatives, and specialist doctors, attended this event, which was held to develop health tourism in the region, especially among Islamic countries. Based on prior coordination, experts for the development of international relations from the Deputy for Health, the head of health tourism from the Deputy for Treatment, and IPD officials from the hospitals affiliated with the university also participated; while benefiting from the lectures, they met and conversed with prominent experts in this field.

At this ceremony, Alireza Zakani, mayor of Tehran, referring to Iran's remarkable progress in medicine since the Islamic Revolution, said: Today we rank highly in scientific production in health and medicine. Thousands of students are trained in medical fields at universities across the country each year, creating a broad and advanced pool of specialists.

Unveiling the Platform for Access to Tehran's Health Services;
A special platform was unveiled at the event which, according to Dr. Meysam Farajollahi, the event's secretary, will allow foreigners worldwide to access Tehran's health and medical services. The system lists all services, including hospitals, agencies, and tariffs.
Emphasis on cooperation among Islamic countries
Dr. Mohammad Jahangiri, head of the Iranian Health Tourism Services Development Association, also emphasized the need for cooperation among Islamic countries to capture a greater share of this market, citing the $4.5 trillion value of the global health tourism economy.
A large Iraqi delegation attended the ceremony. Sheikh Muhammad Al-Hayati, head of the Basra tribe, expressed his full support for the Islamic Republic of Iran and called for enhanced cooperation in medical tourism.
Dr. Abdulaziz Kazem Ghali, advisor to the Iraqi parliament, expressed his pleasure at attending the event and announced his country's readiness to cooperate with the Islamic Republic in health and medical tourism.
Finally, the mayor of Tehran announced plans for a leap in health tourism and said, "The seventh national development plan has targeted $100 billion in annual interaction in the field of health tourism." Experts in international relations development and university student recruitment and admission also actively participated in the event, and an agreement was reached to pursue further cooperation and sign a memorandum of understanding with Tehran Municipality, the head of the Tourism Services Development Association, and the companies and individuals present at the event.
