Iranian and Ivorian Medical Universities Explore Academic Partnership
A virtual meeting was held on September 2, 2026 between Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in Iran and Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Côte d'Ivoire to discuss opportunities for academic and research collaboration.
The meeting brought together senior leadership from both institutions, including Dr. Mortazavi, Vice-Chancellor of International Affairs; Dr. Faeghi, Director of International Relations and Development; Prof. Ballo Zié, President of UFHB; Prof. Alphonsine Kouassi-M'Bengue, Dean of the UFHB’s School of Medicine; and a number of department heads and directors from various fields of medical science.
The meeting was arranged through the efforts and ongoing correspondence of the Iranian Embassy in Côte d'Ivoire. During the discussion, both parties presented an overview of their respective academic, research, and clinical capabilities, with the goal of strengthening and expanding their partnership. The two sides also exchanged ideas and explored potential areas for future investment and collaboration.
Officials from Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny expressed interest in launching the partnership, emphasizing the importance of sustained cooperation in research, the development of joint short-term courses, and future student exchange programs.
Both institutions indicated that further discussions will follow as they work to formalize the terms of their collaboration.
