Kabul Medical University Meet SBMU Authorities

On Sunday, February 23, 2014, a meeting was held at the SBMU Office of International Affairs. In the meeting, Professors Azizullah Akhgar, the Kabul Medical University Vice-Chancellor in academic Affairs, Said Bahadur Akbar Meer, Afghanistan’s Ministry of Higher Education Academic Integration Office Director, as well as SBMU authorities including Professor Farhadnasab, the SBMU Vice-Chancellor in Academic Affairs Consultant, Professor Mandana Sattari, the SBMU School of Medicine Education Office director, Professor Gharehbaghian, the SBMU International affairs Office Director, Professor Gharehbaghian briefed the audience with a history of the SBMU formation, activities, and academic, research, and treatment potentials. While explaining that SBMU includes 11 schools, 4 research institutes, 62 research centers, and 12 treatment centers, Professor Gharehbaghian expressed SBMU readiness for collaborations with the Afghans in all SBMU aspects. Professor Akhgar, on the other hand, detailed about the formation of Kabul Medical School in 1932, and noted that there have been five new schools added to it.  Professor Akhgar expressed his university’s willingness for collaboration with SBMU in revising their university’s curricula, as well as training of their human resources in internal diseases, cardiovascular surgery, and neurosurgery.   Professor
 Gharehbaghian suggested the admission of holding short-term courses and fellowship training program periods. Professor Sattari expressed SBMU willingness to collaborate with Kabul Medical University.
