Meeting of the Chancellor of the University with the Scientific and Cultural Action Advisor of the French Embassy

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019, the Chancellor of the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences, Dr. Alireza Zali welcomed the Scientific and Cultural Action Advisor of the French Embassy Mrs. Myriam Pavageau. This discussion meeting on the objectives of collaboration in 2020 was organized in the presence of Dr. Babak Sharif Kashani, Vice-Chancellor of International Relations, Dr. Afshin Zarghi, Vice-Chancellor of Research and Technology, Dr. Shadnia, the vice-chancellor of education, Dr. Haeri, the adviser to the chancellor of the university, Dr. Farhad Heshmati, the coordinator of the Franco-Iranian Office of Scientific, Academic and Medical Cooperation, Dr. Mortazavi, the director of international relations development, Dr. Ghanati, the internal coordinator of the collaboration office, Mr. Jean-Christophe Bonté, the scientific attaché of the French Embassy and Dr. Habibi, the advisor of the Franco-Iranian office. 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Chancellor gave the welcome and briefly introduced the potential of the university to define research projects and joint education programs. Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences ranks first in medical services at the national level. The history of the university's collaborations with the French side is very solid and several famous professors of the university have passed their higher education in France. Then, the Vice-Chancellor of International Relations, thanking the French Embassy for the support of the mission of the 14 Emergency and Hematology Specialists, described the future programs of the office, including the establishment of the first double degree in emergency medicine in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine of Paris-Descartes University, the meeting of the President of INSERM and the director of NIMAD next March and the organization of the first Iran-France day on the medical sciences in 2020. As Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences is chosen as the focal point of Iran-France collaborations at the national level, he also presented the goodwill of the university to organize other Iran-France dual degree courses and also confirmed the office responsibility to coordinate with the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to monitor Franco-Iranian projects. 

The vice chancellor of research and technology presented the different faculties and research centers of the university specifying on research projects at the national level. 

Dr. Shadnia, mentionimg his previous trip to France to visit the French simulation centers, presented the will of the Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences for the construction of the first simulation center in Iran with the collaboration of the French side. 

Mrs. Pavageau, thanking the Chancellor's invitation, emphasized the values ​​of the different Franco-Iranian scientific and medical collaborations. After meeting with Dr. Asadi Lari, Deputy Minister of International Relations, she also spoke about the importance of the collaboration on the road map proposed by the Regional Advisor of the Ministry of Health of France. She also gave the favorable opinion to use the capacity of the Franco-Iranian Cooperation Office and the French Embassy to maximize Franco-Iranian collaborations with other universities and research centers in both countries.

 

At the end of the meeting, both sides gave their agreement to decide together on all the proposals of the research / joint education projects and the academic exchange coming from the Franco-Iranian Office of Scientific, Academic and Medical Cooperation.
