Narrow Pelvic Reconstruction Surgery for the First Time in the World

Narrow pelvic reconstruction surgery was successfully performed on 20 infants via mini laparoscopy in SBMU for the first time in the world.

Prof. Naser Simforoush, Head of the Urology Center of Excellence, stated that this surgery has been performed on 20 infants, less than one year of age, in Labafi Nezhad Hospital, Urology Center of Excellence.

He also mentioned that three millimeter holes were used for reconstructive laparoscopy in this exclusive technique of surgery to reconstruct narrow pelvis in newborns. It is notable that the scar and the site of surgery are completely reconstructed and indistinguishable three months after the surgery. Since the surgery is performed with a magnification of eight times, reconstruction is carried out more accurately so that postoperative x-rays were indicative of successful result.

Prof. Simforoush, Head of the Urology Center of Excellence of Iran, at the end of his speech said that successful result of this surgery has been published as the first report in the International Journal of Pediatric Urology.
