SBMU Held the Fourth International Symposium on Biotechnology Molecular Technology

Social Relations of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical sciences: The fourth international conference on molecular technology of biotechnology with an approach to design new drugs and treatment modalities was held on October 14th, 2014 in Imam Khomeini Hall.

Dr.Nader Maghsudi, Scientific Director of the symposium and Director of the Iranian Cell Death Association, stated that this three-day program, starting on October 14, provides a great opportunity to achieve the latest valuable scientific findings and exchange experience in terms of drug and biotechnology industry. He also referred to 21 keynote lectures on different aspects of biotechnology and medication and treatment strategies which were delivered by 17 eminent professors from famous universities such as England, France, Switzerland, the USA, Belgium and Turkey as well as four more from Iran.

One of the faculty members of SBMU neuroscience research center introduced the main topics of discussion in this symposium including cell death in physiologic and disease condition, role of mitochondria in the process of death and survival of cells, the importance of intra-cellular signaling pathways in designing drugs, gene therapy and its approaches, molecular targeted therapies for malignancies and viral and neurodegenerative diseases. He also added that this symposium was organized to focus on applications of knowledge of molecular cell biology in biotechnology and design of new drugs and treatment modalities besides discussing topics related to intra-cellular signaling pathways.

In the end, Dr. Maghsudi acknowledged and appreciated neurobiology and neuroscience research centers of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences for their cooperation with the Iranian cell death association and the international cell death association in organizing this symposium on molecular technology of biotechnology.

It is notable that this symposium is considered as continuing medical education (CME) for pharmacists, physicians and specialists in pharmaceutical biotechnology, medical biotechnology, biologic products, medical genetics, medicinal chemistry, physiology, pharmacology, neuroscience, virology and toxicology.
