Sultan Qaboos University Chancellor Meets SBMU Officials

On Wednesday, February 26, the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU) Chancellor, Dr. Ali Saud Al-Bemani, and a delegate including Dr. Mona Fahad Al-Said, the SQU Consultant in International Collaborations, Dr. Esra Al Khasawneh, the SQU Dean, College of Nursing, as well as Drs. Hani Al Qadhi, the Chair of the Department of Surgery, Mohmood Al-Kindi, the SQU Foreign Relations Office Director met with Professor Haeri, the SBMU Director of the International Branch who welcomed the guests and briefed them about the tasks and duties of the two ministries of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education, and Higher Education in training the students, managerial systems, activities, and SBMU administrative structure.  Later on, Professor Gharehbaghian, the SBMU Director of the International Affairs Office detailed on the history, number of schools, research centers and institutes, academic staff, etc.

The visiting SQU delegate asked questions regarding student admission models in Iran, teaching methodologies, and SBMU collaborations with the related Ministry. They also expressed their willingness to have exchange students and conducting joint research projects. Professor Abbaszadeh, the SBMU Dean of the School of Nursing & Midwifery welcomed the admission of Omani students in PhD programs in Nursing.  The visiting SQU delegate was the hosted to visit SBMU Taleghani Hospital to become familiar with the treatment methods at the BMT, and Vascular Surgery Wards. In the visit, in which Professors Alizadeh, Taleghani Hospital Director, and Hajifathali, the BMT Ward Director explained the hospital’s potentials in treatment protocols.

The Omani guests expressed their satisfaction about their visit, and expressed their readiness to sign collaboration memoranda with SBMU.
