The Cultural and Academic Councilor of the Embassy of Afghanistan Hosted by SBMU Director in International Affairs

On January, 15 in this New Year, the SBMU Director in International Affairs hosted the Cultural and Academic Councilor of the Embassy of Afghanistan, Mr.Dr.Said Mohammad Alemi. At the meeting, Mr.Dr.Alemi expressed its country’s willingness to transfer Afghan students to study in Iran in medicine and allied health sciences.  He noted that currently, the Afghan students are transferred to Turkey, Lebanon, etc. but we prefer to transfer them to Iran due to the mutual lingual and cultural similarities. As the meeting continued, Professor Gharehbaghian, the SBMU Director in International Affairs presented a brief report about the SBMU capacities and expressed the SBMU’s willingness to conduct joint projects in various fields including offering fellowship program periods, short-term specialty courses, specialty courses for the nurses and midwives, performing joint research projects, as well as establishing health care and treatment networks in Afghanistan.   He further noted to tourism health and expressed willingness to admit Afghan patients at SBMU affiliated hospitals under the approved fees and charges.

One of the agreed upon issues was the two country’s joint collaboration in health through the WHO.

At the end of the meeting, the two sides decided to prepare a draft memorandum for future mutual collaborations.
