The National Project of Documentation and Reporting Cases of Cystic Fibrosis (CF) under Action by the SBMU PRDRC
The SBMU Pediatric Respiratory Diseases Research Center (PRDRC) is conducting the national project of documenting and reporting cases of cystic fibrosis (CF).
Professor Soheila Khalil Zadeh, the SBMU PRDRC director, the initiator of the project was quoted as saying: “the CF documentation and reporting project has being performed in order to study the CF epidemiology at all universities of medical sciences, and provinces since 2012 under the supervision of the Ministry of Health, Treatment, and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and so far there have been 127 cases registered at the SBMU PRDRC.”
In the SBMU PRDRC Registry System for children with CF, all clinical, laboratory, and treatment information is registered with all details in line with the international guidelines.
She noted: “We hope that with the collaboration of all medical centers around the country, all CF cases will be registered to help reduce mortality rates among kids with CF.”
Professor Khalil Zadeh concluded her remarks referring to the experiences obtained by the developed nations in preventing and treating CF, and said: “we hope to initiate research projects with the utilization of new drugs, and collaborate with such research centers at international levels.”
