WHO Representative visited Shemiranat Health Network

Prof. Abbas, WHO representative, visited Shemiranat Health Network affiliated to SBMU to be informed about the implementation trend of non-communicable diseases program. He also made a visit to Payambar Akram Healthcare Center of Lavasan and Health House of Afjeh, during which Prof. Hassan Pour, in charge of development, explained about the overall structure of health networks in Iran.

Prof. Asgari, in charge of prevention and control of diseases in this center, gave an explanation on programs related to non-communicable diseases such as thalassemia, PKU, hypothyroidism, diabetes, hypertention, cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, accidents and injuries and different types of cancer. He also illustrated on responsibilities of the personnel, some of which include patient detection, follow up and referral system, providing appropriate services, pharmaceutical system, vaccination team, etc.

During the visit to Afjeh Health House, which is named in memory of Prof. Kamel Shadpour, one of the health network founders in Iran, Behvarzan (healthcare assistants) of this healthcare center gave some detail in terms of services provided in this health house, educational programs for healthcare assistants, rural insurance system, evaluation and referral system of non-communicable diseases, responsibilities of healthcare assistants, cold chain, vaccination recording offices, etc.

Prof. Abbas, having visited the aforementioned healthcare centers, expressed his satisfaction with accurate performance of patient detection system in Iran. He also said that the healthcare system in Iran is more accurate and well-organized than what I have ever seen in other countries, and I hope it continues to develop more than before and get better day by day.
