We are pleased to announce that, for the second consecutive year, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences has secured a position in the 400–600 global ranking among 2,526 participating institutions in the 2025 Times Higher Education Impact Rankings for Social Responsibility.
This year, our university reached an extraordinary milestone: ranking 30th globally out of 1,788 universities and 1st nationally among 34 Iranian institutions for United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being). This recognition reflects our core mission—advancing equitable and fair access to health and well-being for all. It is perfectly aligned with SDG 3, which promotes universal health coverage and inclusive healthcare services for every individual.
This remarkable success is the result of years of unwavering dedication, collaboration, and commitment. We are honored to stand among the world’s leading universities in promoting health and wellness.
Additionally, in recognition of our dedication to scientific advancement, innovation, and infrastructure development, SBMU achieved 1st place nationally in SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), jointly with another esteemed Iranian institution. This accomplishment underscores our continuous drive for progress and academic excellence.
Since 2019, the Times Higher Education Impact Rankings have evaluated universities worldwide based on the 17 verified United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Each institution is assessed individually across all 17 goals, with its overall ranking determined by performance in its four highest-scoring SDGs.
The scale and impact of these rankings have grown rapidly. Since their inception, the number of participating institutions has increased by an average of 20 percent annually—expanding from 415 universities in 2019 to 2,526 in 2025.
Our journey toward growth and excellence is far from over. We remain inspired and motivated to continue advancing, guided by our mission and the significant milestones we have already achieved.
