In the latest edition of the Webometrics Global Rankings released in July 2025, Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences secured the 691st place internationally, ranking second among national medical sciences universities and third among all medical and non-medical universities in Iran.

This ranking, drawn from a number of 31,870 universities and research institutions worldwide, includes 400 Iranian universities, of which 64 specialize in medical sciences.

Published biannually, the Webometrics Ranking System is one of the most respected and credible global benchmarks for evaluating the online performance of academic institutions. It assesses universities based on three core indicators:

Visibility (50%) – impact of web content

Openness (10%) – transparency and accessibility of research outputs

Excellence (40%) – number of top-cited papers and total citations

Maintaining this ranking reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to enhancing scientific research and publication, expanding access to academic resources, and boosting research activity both nationally and internationally.
