Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Republic of Tajikistan Ministry of Health Meeting for International Collaboration

August 20, 2025 – Fajr Conference Hall

Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences hosted a specialized online meeting with a representative from the Ministry of Health of Republic of Tajikistan, marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation under the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier this year. The agreement aims to foster scientific, academic, research, and medical collaboration between the two nations.

The meeting was attended by senior officials including Dr. Mortazavi, Vice-Chancellor for International Affairs; Dr. Faeghi, Director of International Relations; and Ms. Cheraghali, International Relations Specialist from Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences. Representing Republic of Tajikistan was Ms. Rano Abdurahmonovna, Head of International Relations Unit, Ministry of Health and Social Protection of the Population.

Dr. Mortazavi opened the session by outlining key initiatives undertaken by Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences in recent years and emphasized the institution’s readiness to offer educational and academic services to international applicants pursuing degree-based or certificate-based training. He also expressed enthusiasm about the establishment of a Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences branch in Tajikistan, which would serve as a hub for joint academic and research activities.

Ms. Rano Abdurahmonovna reaffirmed the importance of continuing academic, clinical, and research collaboration between Iran and Tajikistan, and extended a formal invitation to the Chancellor of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences to visit Tajikistan. The visit would offer an opportunity to explore the country’s healthcare infrastructure and identify areas for future cooperation.

Finally, Dr. Faeghi, the Director of International Relations, emphasized the critical importance of identifying opportunities for cooperation and bilateral development. He explained that these goals will be achieved through joint scientific research in areas of mutual interest, as well as by organizing international congresses, webinars, and both in-person and virtual short-term educational courses.

This meeting marks a promising beginning for expanded international engagement and shared innovation in medical sciences.
